Cowboy Action Shooting (SASS)

NOTE: All events are now listed on the calendar. For best results contact the match director to confirm any last minute changes.

Cowboy Action Shooting is a multifaceted amateur shooting sport in which contestants compete with firearms typical of those used in the taming of the Old West: single action revolvers, lever action rifles, and side by side double barreled, pre-1899 pump, or lever action shotguns. The shooting competition is staged in a unique, characterized and Old West style.

Contestants shoot in several four-firearm stages (courses of fire) in which they engage steel targets in a specifically designed scenario and shooting sequence.

American history buffs and serious shooters alike agree that the use of vintage firearms, authentic costumes, unique targets, and fast action Cowboy Action Shooting is one of the most interesting of all shooting sports for both contestants and spectators of all ages.

We follow the rules and covenants of the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) for safety and consistency, and SASS has been one of the safest shooting competitions ever.
